My Life in Shambles

Over the last month, I've been searching for novels that incorporate a plus size heroine. I'm not talking about a book that complains about the main character being fat or saying that they are different than other people because they're "a little" bigger. I'm talking about the characters that are real and bluntly honest about their size. The characters that don't forget that they aren't a size zero after the first chapter. The characters who embrace who they are and still get a happy ending.

I found this book based off of a recommendation from Zoë Delaney on YouTube: Here's the link to the video. https://youtu.be/ZRgGVQCDfqs

One Steamy Read!

At first I was loving this, and I mean LOVING this! Don't get me wrong, I STILL love this, but in terms of plus size heroines, I feel like I was cheated. The main character, Val, is built up to be the plus size heroine every girl deserves, but once she meets Padraig, I feel as if her body is forgotten. I could understand it if it was intentional, but I don't think it is. I would've like a little more in that dynamic, but I am still blown away with how beautiful this book is. From the plot line, to the characters to the setting, it's everything I could've ever wanted.
I'm rating this 4.5 stars

Valerie Stephens is the girl I once dreamed to be. She was engaged to an attractive man, had a writing career and was building towards a future I could only imagine as successful. That is until it all came tumbling down. Upon ending her engagement, Valerie found herself without an apartment and to make matters even worse, she was laid off from her job. With no place to go, Val heads home for Christmas only to be persuaded by her sisters to start saying yes to new adventures. On a sister's trip to Ireland to ring in the new year, Val finds herself saying yes to a man she would've never been bold enough to approach before, let alone ever have had the courage to consider going home with in a failed attempt at a one night stand.
I loved every part of watching Val turn into a new woman because I could relate to a lot of the anxiety and emotional challenges she faced.

Let me talk about Padraig real quick though. He is the man of my dreams. Honestly. Find me someone who loves with so much passion and stays true to himself amongst the chaos life chooses to throw his way. Did I mention he's a rugby player? Wow, wow, wow. I cannot get over how much I loved his character. I can't say much about him without spoiling the plot. Trust me, you're going to want to read this!

The steam level in this book is astronomical! Definitely on of my favorite reads of the year!
